The new 2012 North Carolina State Building Code books have been released. The North Carolina State Building Code, Residential Code and Administrative codes are now available in soft-cover versions only. Another change worth noting is the Residential Code book now includes abridged versions of the Mechanical code, Plumbing code, Fuel Gas code and 2011 NEC. The 2012 North Carolina Building Code, and Administrative Code books are the only editions of these books allowed in the exam center beginning on March 1, 2012. There is no overlap period for older editions of these books. The 2012 North Carolina Residential Code will be permitted in exam centers on May 1, 2012. Until then, the 2009 is the only edition allowed in the exam center. There will be no overlap period. These books are crucial to passing both the North Carolina Building Contractor license exam and the North Carolina Residential Contractor license exam, as they are allowed in the exam center and there are a great deal of questions pulled from these books.
